Game #3: RIVERDOGS 17 Thunder 5

It's always nice to be at West Raleigh, watching your child(ren)'s game and cheering for kids on both teams whether they made great plays, hit the ball well, neighbors of yours or former teammates. It's a great atmosphere to be a part of and it goes a long way.

Now on to the game that was played tonight...

Here's how the DEFENSE looked...

1st inning:
Gavin (pitcher) to Ian (first) for out #1.
John had a great back up play at left center for the second play.
Luke caught a fly ball at shortstop for the second out.
Lawson had an unassisted play at first to cover for Ian to end the inning.

2nd inning:
John (secon) to Luke (first) for out #1.
Luke had an unassisted play at first for the second out.

3rd inning:
Lawson (second) to Ian (first) for the first out.
Charley (pitcher) to Ian (first) for the second out.

A double play thanks to Charley! He caught a line drive ball at third base and then threw the ball to Lawson at second for the second out.
Lawson (second) to Ian (first) for the last out.

The Dawgs' defense did not have any outs.

6th inning:
Luke (shortstop) to Ian (first) for the first out.

Can't forget those outfielders who are improving a lot on backing up their teammates! Great job Cullen, Gavin, Lawson, Griffin, John, Jack, Noah, Ian and Benjamin.

Also, the kids worked hard playing catcher and learning to take that mask off quickly to try and catch a fly ball or make a play. Great job Jack, Cullen, Griffin and Luis!

Fall 2011 Opening Ceremonies

Getting all the teams seated for the West Raleigh Opening Ceremonies...can you find the Riverdogs?!

and the rest of the teams on the right side

The Riverdogs were well represented!

A Riverdog Dad, Jim Bowdish, is the President of the West Raleigh Exchange Club

The Minor League teams (i.e.-Riverdogs) play on Nowell Field. The softball teams and the 5 year olds from the minor league teams (represented by our own Gavin Turner and Cullen Price) were invited to the pitcher's mound to watch Mr. Nowell (almost 80 years old) to throw the first pitch.

To end the event is the fun relay. Benjamin was chosen to represent the Riverdogs!

and we were fortunate to have two spots on relays...John was the other representative.
On the first Saturday of the season, West Raleigh has the Opening Ceremonies. Each team with the organization is represented! This event was at 11am today and then we played our game at 3pm. You can click on each picture to enlarge it, if you want.
